Over the years of being in church and being apart of a great youth group, I’ve come to realize how good of a father my God is. On June 30th of 2011, I surrendered my life over to Jesus and was instantly filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost.
I remember exactly where I was at and where I was standing. It was my first year at a youth camp in Millersport, Ohio. I was standing outside of the Tabernacle by the hotel building at night, where my small group and I were pouring out our hearts and praying to God. That day for the first time I experienced God’s love and grace in my life. I've never felt better.
I’ve learned that God is a loving father, that He Is Love. Everything he does is loving and good all the time. In spite of our past, our mistakes, and our failures, His love towards us will never fail. Psalms 100:5 says, “ For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”
Jesus sacrificing His own life for us on the cross was the greatest act of love. His sacrifice wasn’t just for nothing, it was for everyone so that we could be forgiven and could live the life He wanted us to live.
1 John 4:9 says, “ This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.”
John 3:16 says, “ For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Romans 5:8 says, “ But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
I cannot begin to explain how good of a father God is. Being apart of a youth group that takes the time every weekend to pray, have a bible study, fellowship, worship, praise and have fun is a huge blessing from God himself. There’s nothing better than having a church family and youth group that lives for God and is there whenever you need them. Ever since I became involved and a member of my church I’ve never felt so much love and friendliness in my life. The first time I encountered my church, I was super shy and scared. I didn’t know whether or not I should believe what they were talking about and get close to them. But when they continually asked about me whenever I wasn’t around, helped me, and offered me a ride to church, I started to see who Jesus really was and why I wanted a life like theirs. I finally had a reason to believe in what they were talking about and teaching about Jesus. We all need certain people in our lives to help us, honestly.
The best way to see better things happening for us is to let go of fear and allow those people that care, and that God has blessed us with, help us in anyway they can because you never know if they can relate to you or not. You have to let go of pride and humble yourself. God only comes to those that are willing to put their focus on him instead. I know for sure God placed these people in my life for a reason because He knew they would help guide me to making the right decision to live for him.
I am extremely thankful that God has helped me to make this decision on January 22nd of 2012. That day I was baptized in the loving name of Jesus Christ and it’s something I’ll never regret doing. He transformed me into this whole new different person than who I was before. I don’t know where my life would be if it wasn’t for Him coming to my rescue. I am proud to say that I am Apostolic Pentecostal and unashamed. Each and everyday now, I experience different things with God and feel more blessed. God has shown me different opportunities out there that I can do through him, if I do my part and believe. I am apart of the greeting team in my church, I’m a fellow bible quizzer and witness to those in my school. I plan on continuing doing what God has placed in my heart. Also I’m excited to see what else God has in store for me. I know I want to do more for his kingdom because anything is possible through him. He is the way, the truth, and life.
